BEDFORD — The Bedford North Lawrence baseball website proudly displays the mantra ‘Victory is our goal: In life ... In the classroom ... In baseball’.

No BNL player better reflects this than Jameson Pierce.

The recent BNL graduate put the finishing touch on his high school career when he was named Academic All-State this week

Pierce was the salutatorian for the senior class, automatically earning him a spot on the prestigious team.

“I am very flattered to be chosen for this award,” Pierce said. “I am so thankful to my family for helping me get here. I couldn’t have done it without them.”

The standout in the classroom recorded a final grade point average of 4.25.

BNL coach Jeff Callahan is proud of Pierce’s accomplishments.

“I really enjoyed working with Jameson this season,” he said. “He is a great young man with a bright future. His work ethic in the classroom and in baseball were second to none.”

Pierce has plenty of great memories from the diamond as well.

“My favorite memory was making a diving catch in left field against Floyd Central,” Pierce said.

Although his playing days may be over, Pierce still has plenty left to discover in the classroom.

“I am going to attend Purdue University and major in wildlife,” he said.
