Head Varsity Coach - Jeff Callahan

Jeff Callahan is entering his 7th season as the head coach of the BNL Baseball team. Jeff has been the athletic director at BNL since 2003.  Jeff played for the Stars from 1984-87. He earned All-State honors his junior year ('86) and was selected to the South All-Star team in 1987. He went on to play at Vanderbilt University on scholarship from 1988-89.

Callahan was an assistant baseball coach at BNL under Joe Klumpp from 1993-98, an assistant football coach 1992-97 and was the boys freshman basketball coach from 1992-94. He was the head football coach for the Stars from 1998-2002.

Junior Varsity Coach - Dennis Kissinger

Coach Kissinger is entering his 10th year on the BNL Staff. Dennis was a 3 year varsity starter at Valparaiso High School and went on to attend Indiana University.

Dennis is currently employed with Gordon Food Services as a Customer Development Specialist. He resides in Bedford, and is married to Melissa where they have 2 children; Brock (21) and Hallie (18).

Dennis interests are spending time with family and coaching youth sports teams (baseball / basketball). He also enjoys playing softball and travelling the Midwest to attend son's motocross events. His favorite baseball team is the Cubs.


Freshman Coach - Mac Bartlett 

Coach Mac Bartlett is entering his 3rd season as Freshman coach for the Stars. Mac graduated in 2011 from BNL, where he played 4 years of baseball (lettering 3 years)

Favorite pro baseball team - St. Louis Cardinals 

Assistant Coach - Duane Higgs

Coach Duane Higgs is entering his 5th year as an assistant varsity baseball coach.  Duane graduated from Indiana University in 2009 with a bachelor degree in Science of Kinesiology.   He was the junior varsity baseball coach at Bloomington South 2009-2013.  Duane then moved on and became the head varsity baseball at Paoli from 2014-2015.  He has been coaching travel baseball for the Demand Command program since 2010.  He currently teaches Physical Education and is the Athletic Director at Shawswick Middle School.  During his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his beagle dog Otis.

Assistant Coach - Todd Tanskley

Coach Todd Tanskley is entering his 7th year as part of the BNL staff. Todd was a 4-year letterman at Mitchell High School and played collegiately at Franklin College. He's coached sports teams all the way from biddy league through high school.

Currently, Todd is the principal at BNL. He is married to Holly, and has 2 children. Hannah (25) Elementary teacher in Brownstown and Brody (21) Junior and continuing his playing career at IU Southeast playing for coach Ben Reel.  Brody played in the Northwoods Collegiate League during the 2019 summer.

Todd's interest is playing golf and attending college baseball games with his family.

Assistant Coach - Reggie Joslin

Reggie is starting his 6th year with the Stars. He attended Madison High School and the University of Louisville where he played baseball.

Reggie is retired from NSWC Crane. He is married to Cheri and has two kids; Matt and Cassie. His favorite baseball team is the Cincinnati Reds. He is an avid Louisville Cardinal fan.

Website Admin - Nick Gates

Nick is entering his 8th year supporting the Stars baseball program. He graduated from BNL in 1997, lettering in baseball (3 years) and basketball (3 years). In '97, Nick was selected as CF for the Indiana All-Star team and the Indiana AC All-State team.

He graduated from Purdue University graduating with in 2001. Nick currently works at NSWC Crane, employed as a IT Program Manager. He currently lives in Bedford, married to Anna Gates and has two boys; Cal (12) and Cam (9).

Outside of BNL baseball, Nick enjoys spending time with his family and coaching youth sports teams. His favorite baseball team is the Cincinnati Reds.
